Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief that the human body has an innate healing ability. A Naturopath will take a full case history to try to identify the underlying root cause of a health problem rather than simply suppressing symptoms. A range of different healing modalities such as nutrition, herbal medicine, Bach flowers, nutritional supplements, massage therapy, as well as lifestyle changes and exercise, may be utilised to bring the body back to optimum health and wellness. A comprehensive treatment plan will be designed for each client that promotes healing of the whole person on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. We believe in educating and empowering clients to take responsibility for their own health.
Herbal medicine is the oldest and still the most widely used system of medicine in the world today and is increasingly being validated by scientific investigation. Herbal medicine extracts the biological properties from a plant’s seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark or flowers. A mixture of herbs may be formulated to treat each individual’s needs. Herbal medicine may be used to support the treatment of a wide range of chronic and acute conditions including cardiovascular disease, prostate problems, depression, inflammation and a weakened immune system. Most herbal medicines are given in the form of a liquid tincture, but may also be prescribed as a herbal tea, tablet, or cream. Because herbal medicines work in a gentle and subtle way, they can take longer to work than orthodox drugs, but their effects are long lasting and there should be no side effects. Herbal Medicine is suitable for people of any age, including children, who respond especially well to the gentle actions of herbs.
Relaxation massage helps the body unwind and reduces muscle tension. It assists general health and immune function, and reduces the effects of stress, anxiety and trauma. Pressure may be lighter or deeper and may be general or focused on particular muscle groups. Essential oils are used to promote healing and a feeling of well-being and relaxation.
Therapeutic massage uses various techniques and pressure to relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on specific problems. Massage techniques may include neuromuscular technique, trigger point therapy, sports or deep tissue massage. Increased pressure may be used to target deeper layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia to help release chronic muscle tension.
